Posted on 29 May '23 filed under Miscellaneous, Update We hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Memorial Day. We would like to extend our thanks to those who reached out regarding issues on the network.
Please note that the recent PHP 8.2 update has affected a few sites across the network, including both mine and Cerine’s. The affected areas are:
- General forms (non-fanlistings)
- Guestbook signing form
- Pagination (non-fanlisting) via the credits directory
Cerine’s Update Log
Rest assured, I will address each of these issues individually. Now that college has concluded and I have more free time, several updates have already been completed.
If you encounter any other issues not listed above, please reach out to either me or Cerine via email. Thank you all for your patience, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Posted on 30 Apr '23 filed under Eidolon, Miscellaneous, Update As April comes to a close, I have made the decision to officially close Eidolon. Over the years, the clique failed to gain significant traction, particularly when compared to Exvius, and maintaining functionality under HTTPS proved increasingly challenging. Despite this, I would like to extend my gratitude to all members for their contributions during the clique’s five-year run.
Following the announcement of PHP 8, it became clear that hosting providers such as Dreamhost would eventually require all users to upgrade to the latest version. Maintaining legacy PHP versions now incurs an additional $5 monthly fee, and while PHP 7 remains functional, continuing to support older code presents notable security risks.
Over the past several weeks, I have updated the majority of backend coding to be compatible with PHP 8. At present, approximately 85% of the network, including Caelestis and Enamour, is running on PHP 8.2, with the remaining sites still operating on PHP 7.4. Due to my upcoming graduation, the full migration will be completed in a subsequent update.
Posted on 21 Mar '23 filed under Cloudplane, Miscellaneous, Update This month marks one of the rare occasions when I am able to provide three updates in a single month. I have taken advantage of spring break as a temporary reprieve from the increasing demands of my obligations, which will continue until the conclusion of my externship for this semester. During this period, I have focused primarily on repairing broken images, links, and coding issues throughout the network, with particular attention to Cloudplane.
Following the conclusion of the semester, I plan to undertake a series of site revamps and resume work on several network projects. Notably, Dreamscape will undergo a significant overhaul. While the site’s content will largely remain intact, certain elements will be streamlined and reorganized to improve overall structure and usability.
In addition, I recently encountered persistent issues with form coding on several sites. After multiple days of troubleshooting, I identified a missing piece of code that had caused the forms to malfunction. This oversight had gone unnoticed because the forms functioned correctly on other sites. Addressing this issue has restored functionality and provided a sense of resolution.
