Cloudplane's New Design

Day offs are always a welcome respite from the demands of hectic work shifts, assignments, and other ongoing responsibilities. While much has transpired over the past week since my last update, certain experiences are difficult to fully capture in words. Nevertheless, I will summarize the most pertinent developments.

A new design has recently been implemented at Cloudplane. After careful consideration of previous attempts to refine the site’s appearance, it became clear that incremental “fixes” were insufficient, resembling a band-aid on a wound that never fully healed. The decision to adopt a second layout arose almost spontaneously, inspired by discovering an image that aligned perfectly with the directory’s name.

This new layout marks the second occasion in some time that I have employed a fully table-less, DIV-based coding structure. Reacquainting myself with modern, table-less design required some adjustment, as I had become somewhat out of practice. Additionally, I am mindful that my familiarity with contemporary GUI trends and coding practices is not entirely current. Despite these challenges, the resulting layout prioritizes simplicity and ease of navigation.

Alongside the visual update, the directory has undergone structural revisions, including updates to the rules and About sections, as well as the removal of inactive or broken links.

Blueprint V.2

After several years and multiple name changes, the second version of the layout archive has been officially launched under a new name. The previous title felt lackluster and did not fully convey the purpose or scope of the site.

In line with our ongoing project revamp, Cerine and I have committed to refining and improving our work, ensuring that older designs remain dynamic rather than stagnant. With this latest release, I undertook the extensive task of uploading and integrating all archived layouts that had not yet been added to the database over the past two years.

The process was considerable: most layouts were re-screencapped at higher resolutions, and thumbnails were recreated for consistency. File names were also standardized, replacing a previously disorganized system that made navigation difficult. Additionally, I meticulously verified original upload dates using records from TFL, TAFL, and our own network update logs.

I am greatly relieved to have completed this extensive project. The result is Blueprint, a refreshed and fully organized layout archive that reflects our commitment to quality, accessibility, and long-term preservation.

Dreamscape Revamp

Happy Halloween everyone. Before this October ends, the second version of the Pokemon collective layout has been launched in celebration of the 5-year anniversary of the site. This new layout has been long in development—not due to the time required to perfect a simple design, but rather the interval since the previous proper layout. I debated whether to work on the collective, as the PSD file had been collecting dust on my hard drive for nearly six months. The initial plan to update the site last year did not come to fruition. The previous layout had persisted for far too long, and the prolonged period of inactivity had negatively impacted the site.

The site has undergone a significant overhaul, with Cerine and I working diligently to improve the content over the past two weeks. All previous content, except for the link buttons, has been replaced with higher-quality images. Certain design elements from the previous layout were retained. Older codes and buttons will eventually be updated, as the current designs remain serviceable for the time being. Additionally, all sections have been reworked and refreshed.

We invite you to visit Dreamscape to explore the updates. In particular, the trainers and about sections have received focused attention and are highly recommended for review.
