Greetings, you've reached Disclosure, an update log for Aelysia.net, Cradle of the Astralspire Network. As any long-term project, I try to keep a record of the activity and main changes done on this domain. To fulfill this purpose, this update log is to keep track of announcements and general updates. Please be mindful that as you progress further back to the older entries, some links you'll come across may be outdated and inaccessible.

Dreamscape Revamp

Happy Halloween everyone. Before this October ends, the second version of the Pokemon collective layout has been launched in celebration of the 5-year anniversary of the site. This new layout has been long in development—not due to the time required to perfect a simple design, but rather the interval since the previous proper layout. I debated whether to work on the collective, as the PSD file had been collecting dust on my hard drive for nearly six months. The initial plan to update the site last year did not come to fruition. The previous layout had persisted for far too long, and the prolonged period of inactivity had negatively impacted the site.

The site has undergone a significant overhaul, with Cerine and I working diligently to improve the content over the past two weeks. All previous content, except for the link buttons, has been replaced with higher-quality images. Certain design elements from the previous layout were retained. Older codes and buttons will eventually be updated, as the current designs remain serviceable for the time being. Additionally, all sections have been reworked and refreshed.

We invite you to visit Dreamscape to explore the updates. In particular, the trainers and about sections have received focused attention and are highly recommended for review.

Enamour & QoL Updates

It has been nearly two months since the last update, though I have been actively implementing changes across Enamour during this period.

One significant improvement is the migration of the entire network from HTTP to HTTPS, enhancing both security and overall performance. On the development side, all fanlisting files have been refactored to minimize individual file edits, streamlining long-term maintenance.

A particularly noteworthy change is the introduction of a centralized script, codes.php, which automatically detects and displays the correct URL path within the front-end interface. This approach functions similarly to a PHP framework, which provides libraries for commonly used functions and reduces the need to write repetitive code from scratch. By implementing this system, all fanlistings maintain a unified structure, eliminating the need to edit individual files when updates are required.

This change not only simplifies maintenance but also ensures consistency across the network, improving both usability and efficiency for administrators and users alike.

Site Maintenance & Affiliate

It appears that whenever I step away from the site for several weeks, minor issues tend to arise. Recently, both the guestbook and contact form experienced functionality problems. I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who reached out via email regarding these issues. The guestbook form displayed a blank page upon submission, which has now been resolved with a quick fix. Additionally, the contact form has been temporarily downgraded to PHP 7.4 while I explore a permanent solution or identify a compatible script for PHP 8. Beyond these technical updates, submissions on Exvius and Cloudplane have been processed as usual.

Affiliate Update
I am also pleased to announce a new affiliate: Erika of Cloud Illusions. Her fansites are highly recommended and provide engaging, well-crafted content. I encourage all visitors to explore her work.

This wraps up July's update. Further updates will be shared in due course.

Network Updates

In the past couple of days, I’ve focused on fixing a few things around the network, primarily backend coding and adjustments that have been bothering me for a while. I’ve also taken the time to read up on some CSS tutorials, which I plan to implement during the next layout change for either Enamour or Aelysia. Stay tuned for those updates. In case you're interested, I've added the link via Memento.
    Accessibility Improvements
  • Cliques – A new page has been added to my domain specifically for cliques/webrings/etc. I didn’t want to overcrowd my index page, as I strive to keep that area minimalistic and focused on faster loading times for everyone.
  • Navigation – The joined fanlistings and guestbook links have been removed from the navigation and added to the index page. Additionally, the contact form link is now placed in the main navigation for easier access.

  • Fanlisting Updates
  • Donation – A hide/show feature has been implemented for specific fields to appear for new donors.

  • Miscellaneous Updates
  • News Script – A snippet of my three most recent update log entries has been added to my domain's front page, so I no longer need to manually update the index page each time a new update is posted.
  • Coding – The HTML <optgroup> tag has been implemented to better group options in dropdown menus, offering a cleaner structure rather than using &nbsp; within the <option> tag.

Upgrade to PHP 8.2

The network has now been fully updated to PHP 8.2, with all previously reported errors addressed. While this update resolves the majority of issues, it is possible that minor bugs may still appear. Users are encouraged to report any issues they encounter.

The guestbook has been upgraded to its latest version. In addition, Cerine has kindly provided a refreshed layout for the guestbook. Taking advantage of this update, I have reorganized both the content and the underlying code, ensuring improved structure and maintainability. With these changes, no major updates to depreciated code should be required for approximately the next two years.
